Making Student-Centered Care Systematic in East Oakland

In this blog post, originally published by the Grad Partnership, I share about the improvement story of Castlemont High School’s 9th grade team. I’ve coached the Castlemont team for 6 years through their participation in the Breakthrough Success Community, CORE Districts’ 9th grade on-track improvement network.

In addition to remarkable gains in 9th grade on-track rates, the Castlemont team has turned their caring school culture into replicable routines and structures that notice and support students at early signs of struggle.
